“Bruce, the Barbarian Athlete” was the first face I ever did in quilting. I had seen an ad in one of the quilting magazines for a quilting workshop in Tuscany, Italy that was taught by Esterita Austin. My husband was not keen on going to Italy with me, so he suggested I ask my sister-in-law to come along. She is not a quilter, but we soon learned that there was not only a quilting workshop, but cooking classes and painting classes.

Visions Art Museum of San Diego introduced a challenge to its members to make a face that’s only 14″ x 14″ and submit it by December 31st. I wasn’t going to accept this challenge, since I’d only have 2 weeks to make something. But what the heck!

Isa is a small wall hanging of my youngest granddaughter. She looks like the S’more temptress of Halloween. This is a fused processed creation which is edge-stitched to secure all pieces. It’s one of favorite faces.
